Sleepless in Montreal...

Just returned from a late dinner after the opening networking cocktail at the St. Stevens Club. We had an adventurous first day that began with the City Chase. We had planned to waltz through the course, take in the sights, grab a little breakfast, etc., because we were still feeling a little "tired" from last nights' festivities. At any rate, as soon as we begin the chase, Kim turns into our master drill sergeant, as she barks, "Is that the fastest you can move?!?" Uh....yes, ma'am, and we were off like Seabiscuit on steroids. Despite her enthusiastic prodding, we didn't win. We were the last team to depart, and came in second....although, I would question the ruling of the judges, of course, but hopefully, this is not indicative of future judging abilities (or inabilities). All in all, not a bad start for the underdog, I say!

After the City Chase around Montreal, we took our team photo - what a sharp dressed group of people! We had some time to kill, so Fred, Tori, Joe and I walked around to the Vieux de Montreal (sp?) or more precisely, the Old Port of Montreal. We went inside the beautiful Notre Dame and said our prayers for the upcoming week. Some of us (I won't name names) probably should've hit the confessional booth, but we were a little pressed for time. We had a nice afternoon walking around the city, and after I defrosted, we went to the opening ceremony. We found out who we were matched up against - here goes: Laurier (Ontario), Aalto (Finland), Lahore (Pakistan), Paris School of Business (France), and Asper (Manitoba). Paris and Lahore are making their debut here at Molson, but the competition in our bracket will be challenging to say the least.

We had a nice time at the St. Stevens Club, as it was our first opportunity to scope out and talk to the competition. I have some early opinions about the teams we are matched with based on our initial conversations, but as my mother always says, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. Wish us luck for tomorrow, as the real games begin. Bonne nuit!
